Top Ten Tuesday: Fall TV

So… I am never up to date on television because it has been 8 years since I was able to watch it normally.  There is a tv that came with our apartment but we only turned it on once.  I think that there might be an English HBO but everything else was in Mandarin.  Which is how it should be seeing as how I am in, you know, China but means that when I watch tv shows I basically have the whole season.  But! There are some books and book series that I would love to see made into a TV show.
1.     The Ravel Cycle byMaggies Stiefvater
Because reasons.  I picture this almost in the style of The Walking Dead.

2.     Just One Day; JustOne Year; Just One Night by Gayle Forman
A show about travelling the world.  And love.  Near misses and big misunderstandings!  There must be lots of location shooting. And cast a Dutch guy.

I feel like this could be similar in feel to Game of Thrones.  Except without the gratuitous nudity.  Also, the characters are not contently making terrible decisions so I could watch this show without screaming at the television.

4.     The Islanders byKatherine Applegate
Throwback!  Although, it has been recently rereleased and updated (for God’s sake I cannot possibly be that old). This has the CW (just realized that I don’t even know if that is still a channel in the US) written all over it.  Cool setting on an sea island in Maine and an ensemble group of attractive teenagers who date and break up.  Lather rinse and repeat.  Nina +Benjamin 4ever!
I want this as an arty one season show on HBO or Netflix.  It would be so beautiful.  I would also want it mostly in French (Alex speaks French to most people in the novel and Alexandrine is French) and with a 20 year old French-Tunisian actor playing Virgil.  GIVE IT TO ME!

6.     Daughter of Smokeand Bone by Laini Taylor
I have only read the first of this series but it definitely deserves a place on this list.  I think this would make for a stunning show.

7.     Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey
Let me be honest with you a minute.  I have wanted this since I was 12 years old.  I actually wrote terrible fanfiction as a middle schooler without knowing what fanfiction was.  I sent it off to Anne McCaffrey who sent me back a very nice postcard which is probably still in my mother’s attic.  Anyway, dragons.  Nice dragons who love you.  Surely, after 50 years someone will have finally figured out a way to make this possible.

8.     The Secret Garden byFrancis Hodgson Burnett
I am one of those people who LOVE the 1993 movie.  But I want more.  Basically I want to live in the garden.  I don’t mind watching Mary, Colin, and Dickon grow up.  Extra points if it is made by the BBC.

9.     Harriet Tubman
More people should be aware of the awesomeness of Harriet Tubman.  I had the white covered biography of her from before I can even remember as a child and for years I was obsessed.  I am still so angry with the white man who hit her in the head with an iron weight. SO ANGRY.  She went back and forth from the south to the north more than a hundred times guiding escaped slaves.  That is like 5 seasons right there.  No whitewashing.

10.  The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
There are so many possibilities here and I am disappointed in the TV industry that it hasn’t already happened.  For shame.

There you have it!  My top ten books/series that I would like to see made into TV shows!

Thanks again to the The Broke and the Bookish blog for making this meme.

    1. Yes! Do you remember the show Rome? I feel as if it would be a cross between that and Game of Thrones. The set that I have in my head for Blackcliff is out of control!
